If you’re anything like me, first of all, hi bestie, and secondly, your default mental picture of bangs is probably straight and blunt. Or straight and wispy. But probably straight. You hear a lot of talk about the cool confidence of curly bangs, too, which have become more popular over the last few years. But if you’re still anything like me, you have wavy hair, and you’ve long wondered, Where are the wavy bangs?
I’m not talking about blown-out side bangs with a bit of a curve. I’m talking piecey, wavy, air-dried bangs. It feels like a rarity, even among those of us with naturally wavy hair.
But over the last week, Zoë Kravitz has been like, “Hold my round brush,” and given us the wavy bangs that have been missing from the fringe discourse.
Kravitz arrived at a photocall for her new movie, Caught Stealing, in Paris on August 21 looking absolutely ethereal in an lacy, off-white slip dress. The romantic vibes carried over into her low-key but super-glowy makeup look by Nina Park and long, flowy hair by Nikki Nelms.
Pulled half back, her nearly waist-length waves have an air-dried look, with some definition but flexibility to frizz just a teensy, lovely bit. And toping it off are slightly side-swept bangs with the same wave pattern, creating a separated style where each piece kind of does its own thing, and blending into a longer face-framing tendril.
