Gracie Abrams Is All In on the Whole Mouth Tape Thing

There comes a time in every young pop star’s life when the inevitable will happen: she’ll partner with a beauty brand. And for Gracie Abrams—she of the sold-out headline tour, Grammy nods, and recent collaboration with Selena Gomez—that partnership is with Hourglass Cosmetics.

To commemorate the occasion, we sat down with the “Call Me When You Break Up” singer, and asked her a few rapid-fire beauty questions. We covered a lot of ground, including the one product she uses just about everywhere and the “not sexy” nighttime ritual she adopted on tour.

What’s one beauty product you’ll never break up with?

Hourglass Veil Skin Tint. It’s glowy and dewy and lasts all day.

What’s one beauty product you’re happy you broke up with?

I’m not big on powder highlighters, but I remember a phase where I tried them… and I’m happy that they don’t exist in my kit today. I like a dewier, fresher feeling.

What defines a Gracie Abrams makeup look?

I think it’s quite simple. It’s as skin-focused as possible, really. I use a lot of Aquaphor and brow gel and blush. I like to feel very ‘in my skin,’ so nothing heavy. I have every size Aquaphor that exists; I use it on my lips 24/7. I’ve even used the stick version for tattoo healing.

What’s your brow grooming routine?

Emily [Cheng, my makeup artist] does her magic in a way that I am incapable of doing, but when I’m on tour, I use just a pencil and gel. Got2b Glued Brows & Edges Gel helps set.

What’s the best thing about having a bob?

Less drying time.

What’s the worst thing about having a bob?

I don’t think I’ve found anything about it that doesn’t make me happy. When I cut my hair off, it felt like the right thing.

What do you smell like right now?

Le Labo Another 13—it makes me feel like I’m at home—and Sex Musk by Cyklar, which is a really light roll-on. I like musky scents; I don’t like anything that feels too sweet.

How do you care for your skin when you’re on the road?

I think it’s just drinking as much water as I can possibly handle—I have a Yeti, one of those huge ones with a handle that’s practically a weapon—and staying consistent with the products that I use. I also started using disposable face towels because stage towels and venue towels can be grimy, and I have very sensitive skin—so that’s been helpful, I’ve noticed.
